Difference DALL-E 3 and Midjourney
The main difference between DALL·E 3 and Midjourney is the way your prompts are interpreted.
DALL-E 3 follows your prompt instructions more accurately than Midjourney. In the case of Midjourney, many of the keywords in your prompt are often used as suggestions whereas in DALL-E 3 there is a much bigger chance you get the exact result you were after.
DALL-E 3 can accurately generate text. Simply describe what words you want to see and it will be added. Please note that it’s not always the correct spelling.
DALL-E 3 and Midjourney have quite a different aesthetic. I enjoy both and love that we can create different sets with both tools.
For this prompt set, I mainly focused on things Midjourney currently can’t do properly. For example, fairies or mermaids often don’t come out looking quite right but DALL-E 3 can generate them with ease.
Below you can see the difference when using the same prompt in both DALL-E 3 and Midjourney.

You can see that Midjourney can’t accurately generate images of people bathing and will create bizare visuals where the models are anywhere but in the bath tub.
3 Tips to use DALL-E 3
- Just like with Midjourney, sometimes faces or eyes can appear a bit deformed. If you describe facial features like freckles, eye color, or makeup, this will be improved.
- When using DALL-E 3 in Bing, you can often get the message your prompt is blocked. I usually just run it again as it seems to be more dependent on the result than the prompt itself. If you keep getting this message, simply remove some words from your prompt to see if that fixes the issue.
- You currently only have access to your most recent creations. Make sure to save your images and prompts because you can’t view them later.
